To a certain extent I agree with both arguements, I weight train 3 times a week, and I work on building sites all week long, so have experience of both, I think the key to the weightlifting arguement is one, remembering supplements are just that, to supplement an already good diet, and two, that weight training done effectively will need exercises that are organised to make sure you're balancing opposing muscles, for instance, just doing bench press may well build your chest muscles, but you need to equally hit your back muscles properly to balance things.... a lot of so called weight trainers do a few bicep curls and some bench presses, and assume that means cos they've done their t shirt muscles they're strong as fuck... it needs proper organising to hit all muscle groups properly, hence my earlier mention of compound lifts.
The building site arguement is also true though, I don't look particularly big, in fact I'm pretty skinny, but know some of my mates who are no doubt bigger and more "muscley" wouldn't keep up with me on site, although I would put that down to stamina and what is essentially practice, I've been doing it for years, course I can cope.
So, I guess to some up... I'm sitting on the fence
